These charges cover the cost of operating, maintaining, and renewing Auckland City’s pipe networks. They also cover the cost of bulk water and wastewater services provided by Watercare. |

As it is difficult to meter wastewater, usage is calculated based on a quarter of household water not going into the wastewater e.g. used for gardening. Accordingly, your wastewater charge is based on 75% of your water usage as measured by your water meter.
