Metrowater has changed the way your Prompt Payment Discount is applied.
You can still get a discount of 10% on your water bill; however from 1 July 2009 you will receive:
- a 7.5% discount for prompt payment; and
- a 2.5% electronic payment discount for making this payment electronically
We made this change to encourage the use of payment options that help us manage costs – which will ultimately benefit all of our customers - while keeping a reward in place for those of you who pay promptly.
Here’s how the new discount works:
· 7.5% Prompt Payment Discount
You’ll receive a discount of 7.5% for paying your bill in full before the printed due date. This will appear on your bill in the normal way - as a discounted amount due if you pay before the due date (see a sample water bill).
· 2.5% Electronic Payment Discount
You’ll get an extra 2.5% discount for paying your bill by direct debit, internet banking or phone banking, when you pay in full by the printed due date.
Because you pay after we send you the bill, the 2.5% electronic payment discount will appear as a credit on your next Metrowater bill.

Paying electronically is easy
To make it easy for you to take advantage of the electronic payment discount, we offer a range of bill payment options.
· Direct Debit
Just set it and forget it - your bill is automatically paid in full by the due date (as long as you have sufficient funds) so once your direct debit is set up, you can rest easy knowing you’ll get the full 10% discount on your bill. It couldn’t be more convenient!
To get started, simply download a direct debit form, fill it out and return it to Metrowater.
· Internet or Phone Banking
If you use internet or phone banking, why not add Metrowater to your list of bill payees?
Then when you receive your bill, simply pay straight from your bank account. You get to control when the bill is paid, and if you pay on time and in full you’ll receive the maximum 10% discount.
